Job Description
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
While reporting to the Regulatory Compliance Quality Manager, the Regulatory Compliance Quality Specialist pro-actively promotes clinical competencies to assure positive patient outcomes by conducting regulatory compliance audits and reviews/analyzes data and documentation on the delivery of care in relationship to the patient.  Assists with performance improvement projects as needed to improve all services within the organization.  Identifies performance deficiencies and offers suggestions on educational needs to Quality Development.
 
  1. Position Requirements
A. Education
1.         Registered Nurses or Licensed Practical Nurses Preferred.
2.         2 years experience in a healthcare organization required.
 
B. Experience
1.         Two (2) years experience in hospice care preferred.
2.         One (1) year experience with electronic medical records preferred.
3.         Prior experience in data collection, profiling, quality measure maintenance processes.
 
C. Other Qualifications
1.         A working knowledge of Medicare hospice regulations is preferred.
2.         Knowledge of Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) preferred.
3.         Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to problem solve.
4.         Possesses sound organizational and planning skills with a solid attention to detail and proficient to follow-up procedures.
5.         Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
6.         Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
7.         Ability to accurately organize and analyze data.
8.         Ability to navigate Suncoast System.
 
II.        Special Considerations
This position requires the ability to interpret medical outcomes of Adults and Geriatrics.
 
III.        Technical Competencies
  1. Is knowledgeable of and supports the philosophy, purpose, mission, goals, and policies of Hospice of Southern Illinois.
  2. Coordinates Hospice Item Set (HIS) processes.
  3. Disseminates results of external surveys.
  4. Assists Regulatory Compliance Director with contracts.
  5. Monitors the progress of employee performance through analyzing data on an ongoing basis and reports challenges and resolution to Regulatory Compliance Director.
  6. Audits clinical chart documentation.  Makes recommendations for improvement.
  7. Supports data collection and submission required for Quality Assessment Performance Improvement.
  8. Supports Regulatory Compliance Director as needed.
  9. Monitors and maintains quality improvement documents.
  10. In collaboration with Regulatory Compliance Director, assists with the development and revision of policies and standards of performance according to current practices.
  11. Disseminates results of audits, routine surveillance and analysis of data for use by the Regulatory Compliance Director.
  12. Accurate timesheet documentation.
  13. To perform other duties as assigned.
