Event Description:
Help support Southwestern Illinois College scholarships, check out some cool classic cars, grab a bite to eat from a food truck and listen to music at the Dine and Dash for Education event Friday, Oct. 18 from 4-9 p.m. at the SWIC Belleville Campus, 2500 Carlyle Ave.
A 5K Run/Walk begins at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit SWIC Student Scholarships and support academic programs.
“We’ll have something for everyone from food and music to puppet shows and classic cars,” said SWIC Foundation Executive Director Rena Theole. “We want people it the community to come out and have a good time and learn more about SWIC, their community college.”
Displays and demonstration of SWIC academic programs will include robotic welding, respiratory care ventilators, culinary arts cupcake decorating, horticulture program mum sale, and performances by SWIC Music students.
Food trucks will range from baked potatoes to Indian food to ice cream. Beer, soft drinks and water will also be sold.
The Classic Car Cruise will feature automobiles from Belleville Gear Jammers classic car club. Live music will be provided by The Woo Daddies, a popular St. Louis-based band whose style ranges from Blues and Jazz to Rockabilly and Pop. Music Begins at 5 p.m.
Family Fun will include a puppet show, face painting and pumpkin painting.
