Name: NOT ALL FACTUAL – BUT ALL TRUE: THE STORY OF THE OLD TESTAMENT
Date: April 13, 2021
Event Description:
On Tuesdays, April 13, 20, 27 and May 4, the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, Ill., will offer a four week series entitled Not All Factual – But All True:  The Story of the Old Testament.

When we read and reflect on the stories in the Hebrew Scriptures – the Old Testament – the question that often comes to mind is, “Did it really happen that way?”  But that question overlooks a deeper and more important question:  what did the authors of the Old Testament mean when they wrote or edited the stories?  What were they trying to say about the faith of the Chosen People?  In this four-part series we will examine the important events and persons of the old Testament – first, as they are presented in the Bible, and then in their historical and theological context.  We will see that the stories of the Old Testament may not always be factual- but that they are all true.

Presenter:  Mark Etling, Ph.D.
Fee: $40 for series or $10 for individual session. Pre-registration is required.
