Event Description:
On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, Ill., along with the St. Clair County Suicide Prevention Alliance, will host our annual suicide prevention training (QPR) and candlelight vigil. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as persons trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to “question, persuade, and refer” someone to help. Our touching and stirring candlelight vigil is to honor those we have lost to suicide.
