CHARGE RN - Behavioral Health
Sign on Bonus for Experienced Nurses - up to $25,000
3 - 12 hour shifts (6:30pm to 7:00am) per week
Every other weekend

About Us: At Touchette Regional Hospital (TRH) we are committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based mental health care across all stages of life. Our multidisciplinary team supports patients in both acute and geriatric psychiatric units, ensuring continuity of care and dignity in every interaction. TRH has a 26-bed acute unit and 12-bed geriatric unit.
Position Summary: The Charge Nurse (CN) oversees and coordinates comprehensive nursing care throughout a client's hospitalization, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and procedures. This role provides leadership and direction to nursing staff and other personnel involved in patient care. The CN upholds professional accountability for all nursing services delivered within the facility, consistently demonstrating sound clinical judgment and decision-making. The ideal candidate possesses broad knowledge of patient care requirements across diverse clinical specialties and adheres to established standards of nursing practice. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about mental health care across diverse populations and settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides appropriate nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of clients on the unit.
- Makes nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees.
- Accurately and promptly implements physicians’ orders.
- Prepares, administers, and records medications in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications.
- Records information concisely, accurately and completely.
- Coordinates and provides emergency care as needed.
Safety & Training: Safety is fundamental to how we care for our patients—and each other. Team members receive extensive training to support safe, therapeutic environments, including:
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training
- Blue Card certification
- Ukeru pad training for trauma-informed, restraint-free safety strategies
Qualifications/Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 2 years prior behavioral health experience preferred.
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
